{"id":5020,"date":"2026-04-13T10:24:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/europe.fintechnews.media\/?p=5020"},"modified":"2026-04-13T10:24:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:24:19","slug":"british-business-bank-commits-107m-to-eka-ventures-fund-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/europe.fintechnews.media\/?p=5020","title":{"rendered":"British Business Bank Commits $107M to Eka Ventures Fund II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British Business Bank has made a \u00a340m cornerstone commitment to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekavc.com\/\">Eka Ventures<\/a>\u2019 second fund, supporting a final close of \u00a380m.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank previously backed Eka Ventures\u2019 first fund in 2021, which closed at \u00a368m, and said the latest investment forms part of its Enterprise Capital Funds programme, which aims to increase the supply of equity capital to early-stage UK businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Other investors in the fund include Better Society Capital, Guy\u2019s &amp; St Thomas\u2019 Foundation, WRAP, Esm\u00e9e Fairbairn Foundation and The Health Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2018, Eka Ventures invests in early-stage businesses focused on sustainability, health and inclusion. Its portfolio includes companies such as Runna, Axle and Urban Jungle.<\/p>\n<p>Fund II will target pre-seed and seed-stage UK businesses, with plans to invest in up to 30 companies across areas including healthcare, sustainable consumption and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>The British Business Bank said the investment would support the development of early-stage companies with long-term growth potential, with the Enterprise Capital Funds programme having backed 54 funds to date.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Business and Trade, said: \u201cThe UK has world-class talent building innovative businesses that make a big impact.
