The company will also strengthen its presence in France, Spain, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbesmiddleeast.com\/industry\/energy\/tunisia-awards-licenses-to-4-international-firms-for-500-mw-solar-projects-valued-at-%24386m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tunisia<\/a>, while supporting expansion into Saudi Arabia, a key market where sustainable water solutions are urgently needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat convinced us is Kumulus\u2019 ability to produce water locally \u2014 without packaging or transportation, offering a truly sustainable alternative,\u201d said Cl\u00e9ment Yvorra, Global Business Development Manager at Spadel, in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Kumulus Water designs and manufactures atmospheric water generators (AWGs) that capture humidity from the air to produce clean, safe drinking water. Built to operate off-grid, the units require no existing water or electricity infrastructure, making them ideal for remote or underserved areas.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, Kumulus machines are already deployed in schools, hotels, and communities across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, offering a sustainable solution as global water scarcity intensifies. By providing a scalable, eco-friendly alternative to bottled water and centralized systems, the technology helps reduce plastic waste and expand water access in even the most climate-challenged regions.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A spark in the desert<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The idea for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbesmiddleeast.com\/lifestyle\/environment\/kumulus-water\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kumulus\u00a0<\/a>Water was born during a trip to the Tunisian desert, where co-founder Iheb Triki noticed dew forming on his car and tent in the early morning. This simple observation sparked a transformative question: could atmospheric condensation be harnessed to create safe drinking water?<\/p>\n<p>Motivated by this insight, Triki teamed up with co-founder Mohamed Ali Abid to launch Kumulus Water in September 2021. With less than $20,000 of personal savings, they bootstrapped the startup\u2014setting up\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.media\/2024\/10\/11\/london-based-crypto-compliance-solutions-provider-elliptic-establishes-regional-headquarters-in-uae\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">headquarters in France and establishing<\/a>\u00a0their first affiliate in Tunisia.<\/p>\n<p>Early backing from accelerator programs helped them build momentum, leading to a $1\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.media\/2024\/09\/12\/oman-based-cloud-kitchen-io-kitchens-secures-2-8-million-seed-funding-round\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">million pre-seed round composed of both dilutive and non-dilutive funding<\/a>. By 2023, they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.media\/2025\/02\/11\/saudi-based-madkhol-capital-closes-2-2-million-seed-round-led-by-seize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">closed a seed round<\/a>, bringing their total funding to around $4 million across both rounds.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Big numbers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In 2023, Kumulus produced\u00a0<b><strong>260,000\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>liters of water, reduced\u00a0<b><strong>8,000\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>kg of CO\u2082 emissions, and eliminated\u00a0<b><strong>5,000<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0kg of plastic waste, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<h2>About Kumulus Water<\/h2>\n<p>Kumulus Water is a Paris-based climate-tech startup building atmospheric water generators (AWGs) that transform air into safe, clean drinking water.
