Glint Solar Secures €7.4M in Series A Funding to Drive Global Solar Adoption and Streamline Project Development

Oslo-based SaaS Company Expands Solar Energy Solutions Amidst Global Energy Transition
Glint Solar, an Oslo-based software company specializing in solar project development, has successfully raised €7.4 million (approx. $8 million) in a Series A funding round led by Smedvig Ventures, with additional support from Momentum, Futurum Ventures, and Antler. The funding will fuel Glint Solar’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of solar energy and enhance project development efficiency worldwide.
Jonathan Lerner, Partner at Smedvig Ventures, commented on the industry’s need for Glint Solar’s solutions: “The solar sector has made strides in advancing green energy technologies, but the process of initiating these projects is still cumbersome. Glint Solar fills this gap, offering a unified platform for solar developers, engineers, analysts, and management teams to streamline project identification and assessment.”
A Breakthrough Platform for Utility-Scale Solar Development
Founded in 2020 by Harald Olderheim, Even Kvelland, and John Modin, Glint Solar has created one of the first comprehensive SaaS platforms designed for utility-scale solar projects. By integrating GIS data, yield estimates, and customizable project layouts, the platform enables developers to identify optimal land locations, reducing dependency on fragmented data sources and manual analysis. This platform is transforming workflows, allowing teams to expand their project pipeline by up to three times and assess potential sites 10 times faster than traditional methods.
“Utility-scale solar is now one of the most cost-effective energy sources. The critical next step is to make its development as efficient as possible,” says CEO and co-founder Olderheim. “Our platform addresses that need, enabling developers to visualize projects in 3D, facilitate stakeholder discussions, and streamline the permitting process.”
Investing in the Future of Solar Energy
Glint Solar’s new funding comes after a successful $3 million seed round in 2022. Since then, the company has more than tripled its customer base, which includes major energy players like Recurrent Energy, Statkraft, and E.ON, across 35 countries. This latest investment will allow Glint Solar to accelerate its expansion, improve product features, and double its workforce over the next year.
By 2025, the company aims to introduce new tools, including an energy storage location optimization feature, further positioning Glint Solar as a pivotal player in the solar energy transition.
Olderheim concluded, “With the IPCC calling for 70-85% of global electricity to come from renewables by 2050, the urgency for efficient, scalable solar solutions is undeniable. Our mission is to simplify complex data and deliver actionable insights, advancing global solar adoption to combat climate change.”
