Danish Startup Cordulus Secures €3M to Expand AI-Driven Weather Prediction Technology

Aarhus, Denmark – November 4, 2024 – Cordulus, an innovative provider of AI-based weather prediction solutions, announced today it has raised €3 million in funding. The investment was led by international agricultural leader Danish Agro and the Pajbjerg Foundation, two prominent supporters of the company’s mission to transform weather forecasting with hyper-accurate, AI-driven insights.
The new funding will enable Cordulus to expand its advanced weather solutions into additional markets, supporting sectors that rely heavily on precise weather data for decision-making.
“We are honored by the continued trust of our investors, which reaffirms our vision to bring unparalleled accuracy in weather forecasting to industries worldwide,” said John Smedegaard, CEO of Cordulus.
Cordulus: Pioneering AI-Based Weather Solutions
Under Smedegaard’s leadership, Cordulus has developed an advanced AI weather model capable of predicting weather patterns with unmatched precision. By integrating data from satellites, radar systems, and over 4,000 proprietary weather stations—the largest network in Northern Europe—Cordulus provides hyperlocal weather forecasts that are 50% more accurate than traditional methods.
“We’re in a period of transformation, where AI-based weather technologies are redefining what’s possible. We see enormous potential in applying our data analytics and forecasting tools to new industries, enabling them to minimize weather-related risks, optimize resource usage, and reduce their environmental impact,” Smedegaard explained.
Cordulus aims to establish itself as a key player in the green economy, helping companies manage climate risks and contribute to a more sustainable future through the application of AI.
Strategic Partners with a Vision for Sustainable Agriculture
Danish Agro Group, a long-standing investor in Cordulus since 2018, played a key role in this funding round. The company provides essential products for the agriculture industry across Northern Europe and views Cordulus as integral to its digital strategy for Baltic Sea farmers.
“We’re excited to witness Cordulus’s growth and the innovative tools they’re bringing to agriculture. Their cutting-edge weather stations reflect our commitment to supporting farmers with digital solutions that improve resilience,” said Henning Haahr, CEO of Danish Agro Group and Chairman of Cordulus.
The Pajbjerg Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing Danish agriculture through research, also renewed its commitment to Cordulus in this round. “Supporting Cordulus aligns with our goal to aid plant breeding and agricultural development. Accurate weather data is essential for creating sustainable food and feed varieties,” noted Michael Stevns, Chairman of the Pajbjerg Foundation.
