PausePay Partners with Visa, Set to Revolutionize Business Payments with a New BNPL Model and Prepares for €1 Million Funding Round

Innovative Fintech Startup Poised to Transform Business Transactions Through Visa-Powered Credit Card System
Milan, Italy – October 2024 – PausePay, a pioneering Italian fintech startup specializing in Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solutions for businesses, has officially signed an agreement with global payments leader, Visa. The collaboration introduces a revolutionary business credit card that enables companies to access deferred payments with ease, supported by the expansive Visa network. This partnership underscores PausePay’s commitment to delivering seamless payment solutions to the B2B market.
PausePay, founded in 2022 by Luca Scali, the creator of the SME financing platform CashInvoice, was developed in collaboration with Allianz Trade, a credit insurance powerhouse that oversees the creditworthiness evaluation process. This partnership aims to leverage Visa’s expertise in digital payments and global network reach, while providing PausePay customers with access to a powerful BNPL tool designed to enhance business transactions across various industries.
Stefano M. Stoppani, Visa Italy Country Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “This collaboration highlights Visa’s continued investment in digital payments innovation, and we’re proud to support the Italian fintech ecosystem through PausePay’s groundbreaking BNPL solution. By combining the capabilities of our global network with PausePay’s innovative platform, we are providing businesses with a new level of flexibility and efficiency.”
Luca Scali, CEO of PausePay, added, “Teaming up with Visa marks a significant milestone for PausePay. Together, we’re offering an innovative product that reshapes how businesses manage their purchases and financial flows. Our partnership brings Visa’s global expertise to our cutting-edge BNPL platform, making this solution a true first-mover in the market, perfectly aligned with the evolving needs of business customers.”
The launch of PausePay follows the successful growth of CashInvoice, which, in 2023 alone, processed €880 million in receivables, with €250 million disbursed through invoice trading, reverse factoring, tax credit assignments, and BNPL financing. The fintech’s unique offerings have attracted relationships with over 100 major corporations, including multinationals.
To accelerate growth, PausePay is preparing for a seed funding round, aiming to raise at least €1 million by early 2025. The company plans to expand its product offerings and further its market presence as the demand for online B2B transactions across Europe continues to surge. According to industry estimates, the European B2B market, valued at $1.847 billion in 2021, is projected to reach $11.262 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.3%.
PausePay, initially conceived as a project within CashInvoice, has since evolved into a standalone company led by Scali and co-founders Daniele Fani and Giovanna Arcangeli. The venture represents a significant step forward in the evolution of B2B financial technology in Italy and beyond.
